Valderrama Masters

The Spanish Powerhouse of International Golf

The Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters has been part of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai schedule since 2010. It gathers some of the top players in the World and is made possible by the joint contribution of Estrella Damm, the Andalucia Tourist Board, the European Tour and Real Club Valderrama.

Valderrama has been consistently ranked as number 1 in Continental Europe since the late 80’s and has been included in the Top 100 in the World since 1990.

The Par 71 Championship Course measures 6418 meters from the professional tees. The fairways have been described by top pros and leading golf journalists as the best in Europe, if not the world. The course has a reputation for it’s design – It is not an easy course – nor was it intended to be. It is designed so as to call forth thought and precision for every shot.

The course was originally designed in 1974 by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, one of the great golf course architects, and was originally known as Las Aves (Sotogrande New). In 1984, Mr. Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, acquired the golf course and committed to bringing the course to an extraordinary level, never seen before in Europe. Robert Trent Jones willingly agreed to come back and redesign his original layout of ten years earlier.

Valderrama has since risen in the Golf World rankings to become the No.1 golf course in mainland Europe, a position proudly held since 1989.

Speaking about the excursion, Matthew Parry, Academy Director at the Jason Floyd Golf Academy said, “Giving students the opportunity to be at a golfing event of this level is a fantastic experience. Not only can students learn a lot about tour level golf but they get the opportunity to see some of the best players in the world playing on what is considered one of the best courses in the world.”

We’ll be sharing some photos later this week from the excursion and finding out from some of the highlights from our students. Make sure to follow our instagram for the latest updates from the Jason Floyd Golf Academy.
