Student’s of the Jason Floyd Golf Academy and the world of golf witnessed an extraordinary moment on October 1, 2023, as Europe triumphed over the United States in the Ryder Cup, securing a remarkable victory with a final score of 16½-11½. The stage was the picturesque Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Italy, where Europe’s unbeaten streak on home soil extended to an astonishing 34 years.

Tommy Fleetwood emerged as the hero of the day, securing the crucial point in a thrilling afternoon of golf. Despite Europe entering the singles matches with a commanding lead and never trailing, the U.S. mounted a spirited challenge, making it an unforgettable showdown that students at the Jason Floyd Golf Academy were able to watch and learn from.

The home team had established a 10½-5½ lead on Sunday morning, setting the stage for an epic U.S. comeback, which would have required the biggest Ryder Cup comeback in history. However, the Americans fell just short, narrowing the margin to 14-11.

Fleetwood’s exceptional performance, including his 3&1 victory over Rickie Fowler, ultimately sealed the Ryder Cup victory for Europe.

Reflecting on the victory, Captain Donald remarked, “This is the best moment of my career. This is why the Ryder Cup is so special to me and to these guys because of these moments. We play for each other, share in that success, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Not many people gave us a chance after Whistling Straits, but we showed form in the last six months, and I couldn’t be happier with the team I got.”
