When you think of golf, the name Tiger immediately comes to mind. Tiger Woods ensured that legacy, and now, rising star and student of the Jason Floyd Golf Academy and Arizona State University, Tiger Christensen, is making waves in the golf world.

Hailing from Germany, Tiger Christensen has clinched victory for the third time in his college career, securing the medalist honours at the prestigious Jackson T. Stephens Cup held at the Trinity Forest Golf Club. He delivered an impressive final round performance, carding an 8-under 64, and ultimately finished the tournament at 19-under 197. His success could be attributed to some refinements in his driving game, allowing him to hit a remarkable 40 out of 42 fairways in the three rounds of stroke play.

Christensen expressed his confidence leading up to the tournament, stating, “In qualifying, I missed only like four fairways over three rounds. But to miss only two over 54 holes is pretty good.” Notably, his 19-under score set a new program record for a 54-hole competition.

He further credited his excellent performance on the greens throughout the week to a new drill he incorporated into his warmup routine. This led to a remarkable accomplishment of not recording a single three-putt over the entire week, a feat he couldn’t remember achieving over a 54-hole event.

In the final standings, Christensen secured a five-shot lead over Florida State’s Cole Anderson, who finished at 14-under 202. Additionally, Christensen’s outstanding performance played a crucial role in guiding Arizona to the match play final, where they will compete for the team title against Anderson and the Seminoles.

When asked about the comparisons to the legendary “Big Cat” (Tiger Woods), Christensen expressed his admiration, saying, “I think it’s pretty cool. And like, I don’t know, it doesn’t really affect me at all. I just think it’s cool. I’d never want to be named a different name.”
