Last week, golfing students from various Inspired Schools were invited to Spain for the first Inspired Schools golf tournament – the 2023 Inspired Schools Team Championship, organised by Sotogrande International School in partnership with the Jason Floyd Golf Academy.
Amongst the schools were junior golf students who visited to compete from Italy (International School Como & International School Milan), the United Kingdom (Reddam House), Madrid (International School of San Patricio and junior golfers from the Elite Sports Programme at Sotogrande International School.
The tournament took place over three rounds on The San Roque Club – New Course – a championship course that is as challenging as it is beautiful. From the 15th-17th March, the competitors played for the winning titles in three differences categories following Stableford gameplay – Boys, Girls and Team Category.
After the three rounds, the score cards were handed in to the team at the Jason Floyd Golf Academy and the prize giving was held with Sotogrande International School, Head & CEO, James Kearney and Student Liaison Manager, Jason Floyd Golf Academy, Lorne Burns, announcing the winners of the first ever Inspired Schools Team Championship.
In the girls category, Cami Beuret won, representing the Sotogrande International School – Team Junior (M4-M5). In second place was Angelica Giuliano from the International School of Milan and in 3rd place was Amy Nemetg-Yuile, representing Reddam House.
In the boys category Alex Swoboda won, representing Sotogrande International School – Team Junior Access (M2-M5) @sotoschool. 2nd place was won by Billy Brennan and 3rd place by Logan Simpson, who are also students at Sotogrande International School and students on the Jason Floyd Golf Academy Junior Access golf programme.
In the Team Category, Logan Simpson, Alex Swoboda and Billy Brennan took the team winners title, representing Sotogrande International School – Team Junior Access (M2-M5).
